A healthy lifestyle is a combination of what you put into your body and what you put your mind and body through. Creating a balance between physical fitness, mental well being and spiritual connectivity with yourself can be the right path towards leading a healthy life. 

Here are 5 tips you must follow to achieve a healthy lifestyle: 

Workout, Rest, Repeat

Don’t spend 7 days a week doing cardio or weights, your body might not be able to take it. Listening to your body is extremely crucial, and it’ll tell you exactly when to stop and take a break. Listen to that voice of reason. You don’t want to tire yourself out to the point where you’re unable to do other activities during the day. Instead, finding the right balance between your workouts and breaks can help you stay at the top of your game. 

You can still workout daily, however, you’re better off assigning a few days in a week to strenuous activities and other days to lighter workouts that do not tire you out too much. Some time aside will allow your body to recover better, eventually keeping you healthy and fit.

The one thing that truly decides how you feel during the day, how healthy your body and mind are – is what you put into your body. Whether it’s what you drink or eat, these have a direct effect on your lifestyle. 

Fresh whole foods are usually the answer to healthy eating. While we aren’t asking you to give up everything that you savor that isn’t necessarily nutrient dense, we do recommend giving up food items that are detrimental to your health. 

Rather than eliminating everything altogether, you can start by introducing fresh vegetables and fruits into your diet, and replacing diet sodas with water or fresh juice. 

Do not stop consuming high carb or fatty food, but choose wisely. 

Surround Yourself With the Right People

And who might these people be? The ones that push you towards a better lifestyle. The ones that support you when you’re down in the trenches, the ones that help you get back up and get your life together. Surrounding yourself with family and friends that want the best for you and always add positivity into your life are the people you should surround yourself with. If you have a special someone that makes you want to take the ‘does he like me quiz’, you might want to stick around them. 

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a person you’re closely involved with, even a teacher, a mentor or a colleague can be the right person to have around. 

Surrounding yourself with positivity goes beyond just people, it’s also where you reside and the places you visit most often. You can bring a positive breath of fresh air into your home with indoor floral decorations or visit places more in tune with nature rather than boxed up rooms that require ventilators. 

Set Small Goals

We all love sitting down with a diary and making a 5 year plan for our growth and future goals. However, as common as such a long term plan is, it’s realization isn’t that common or often. Most people end up messing up at least one aspect of that plan and then become disheartened. What happens next? The plan goes down the drain and you end up on the couch. 

The idea here is to make plans that are achievable and do not put a lot of pressure on you. You can break down your long term goals into short term ones. For instance, a goal of losing 20 pounds in the next 3 months can be broken down to working out 5 days a week and eating healthy. 

Make Sleep Your Best Friend

As a kid, most of us hated the idea of ‘bedtime’. And quite honestly, it was then when we were our most energetic selves. However, marching into adulthood changes that for the lot of us. Now, our sleep lingers behind our eyes much before we’re done with our day’s work or the netflix series we’ve been meaning to watch. 

This is where you need to prioritize your sleep over anything else. Following a proper sleeping schedule without fail and allowing your body to rest after wrecking havoc during the day is the best thing you can do to rejuvenate. 

Apart from these, allowing yourself to feel emotions, and finding a positive outlet can turn things around for you. Let your creative side get the best of you when you feel overwhelmed. Find comfort in meditation and art, or anything else that helps you find relief in the midst of the chaos called life.
